Boss Performance is a Ford hi-performance shop that specializes in Boss 429 performance, parts and restoration. We carry a large inventory of NOS Ford Boss 429 parts, new quality reproduction parts, and rare collectible Mustang items. We don't carry every part under the sun, only the ones worth putting on your Boss 429 Mustang!

Boss Performance was started in 1979 by Steve Strange. Steve Strange is considered a Mustang historian, and the foremost authority on the history of the Boss 429 Mustang program at Ford Motor Company and Kar-Kraft. Steve also started the Boss 429 World Registry in 1974, and maintains an extensive historical archive devoted to the preservation and promotion of the Boss 429 Mustang.

How did we get started?
Steve purchased his first car, a 1964-1/2 Mustang convertible in 1968 as a junior in high school. Two years later Steve bought a 1970 Mach 1 Mustang brand new from the local Ford dealership, (by the way he still owns that car today). Within a few months, he was selling parts for Shelby Autosport. Carroll Shelby's hi-performance parts outlet located in California. Neat stuff, like CS Shelby tachs, factory roll bars, Shelby manifolds. About a year later, Steve purchased his first Boss 429 Mustang, a 1969 white car. And started drag racing and going to car shows. Soon he was buying parts from Ford Motor Co. and Holman-Moody. It didn't take long for word to spread, and within a short period of time, he was sending out Boss 429 parts all over the country, to fellow owners who were having trouble finding obsolete Boss 429 parts and pieces. Steve then purchased KK-1233, followed by KK-2526, the best, un-restored, original Boss 429 Mustangs in the world! We use these vehicles as shop guides to assist us in truly establishing what is or is not correct.

In 1981, Steve wrote his first book about the Boss 429 Mustang, and in 1985 published a revised edition, Boss 429: Performance Mustang Style that today is considered one of the best Mustang books ever printed!

The Strange family also has a fine collection of cars and engines as well as a large collection of hi-performance Ford parts and rare memorabilia. Steve is also considered one of the foremost experts in the world on Ford Autolite GT-40 automobile signs and clocks.

Today, Steve is joined by his son, Mike Strange, who is also a bona fide Mustang nut! Mike is a practicing attorney and a member of the Washington State and Nevada State bar associations. His specialty is Civil Litigation, I.P., copyrights, trademarks, and licensing. Mike started going to car shows and swap meets before he could walk. He literally grew up around Boss and Shelby Mustangs! Mike's expertise is detailing and workmanship. Mike is also co-authoring the Boss 429 Mustang Registry book. Hey, between these two guys, Boss Performance can handle just about any Mustang question or query you would throw at them!
